Hugo Santa María was born in Mar del Plata. From his early years was connected to the art world.

Formed as an architect, Hugo developed his art skills guided by the plastic artist María Marta Aguilera. Already in his first works Hugo connected to thick lines using powerful colors with a unique sense of perspective and different vanishing points which together formed a particular style.

Every single painting is endorsed with his personal mark, distinctive urban dyes and mundane strokes easy to read and interpret. In 2014, his artwork of acrylic on canvas “Faros” (lighthouses) was selected for the 37th Enrique de Larrañaga Annual Hall of Painting. In 2015, he decided to showed part of his work in various exhibitions. In 2016, his artwork “Tejido en la Memoria” he won the 1st Prize in the Competition 95 Años del Faro de Quequén.
